Kettering Water Park Trip 2011

Oh we had a blast. I totally forgot to take pictures while in the water park. So i take the full blame for that one. Despite the fun we had, it was very difficult to get them together to take a few pictures. Looking back it was too funny. We got them together and started taking pictures left and right. Too bad I didn't get the chance while we were in the water...

Main Street Clean up Aug 2011

Here we are, getting ready to clean up in 95 degree weather. We came deep and made up about 2/3's of the participants. We had fun. I would have taken more pictures but I took one for the team with a bloody gash to my knee. I bled alot but didn't notice it until one of the children pointed it out to me. Then they went out to find a first aid kit and helped me clean up the wound.

My heroes!

What we've done so far...(2010-2011)

Seeds of Peace Community Youth Organization

Mission: To become a significant factor in the movement to end inner city violence with an emphasis on putting a stop to the senseless killing of young black men by other young black men.

Brief Summary: Seeds of Peace Community Youth Organization began as an idea to take some youth from economically deprived communities with high rates of gun violence to the Splash Moraine Water Park. The word spread and in the summer of 2009, Seeds of Peace too over 60 young people to this water park. Most of the children came from the Northland Village, the Five Oaks, DeSota Bass, and Eagle Ridge neighborhoods of North Dayton. These children became our main focus.

From this trip to the Splash Moraine Water Park, Seeds of Peace volunteers and mentors began to find events in the Montgomery County Area that is geared towards young people. Within two years, we have helped introduce scores of inner city youth to activities, events, and people that help to enrich their young lives. We have organized several volunteers and mentors from our local communities who have donated their time, money, networks, and effort during these past two years.

Seeds of Peace also holds several monthly meetings and workshops that teach young people how to settle conflicts in a non violent manner, how to avoid the pitfalls that plague inner city youth throughout the country, and how to strengthen their bonds between family and friends to help maintain a sense of community.

We accomplished all of these endeavors through donations provided by several organizations and members of our local communities and the work of the youth who are members of Seeds of Peace.
