In the Beginning...

Brother Larry, a native of Dayton, Ohio, attended an End the Violence Town Hall Meeting at the Wesley Center on June 18, 2009. He listened to several local activists and was inspired to action. The next day, he read an article about the North Land community. The article focused on the crime and police calls to that area. Brother Larry was saddened by the violence and tragedy in that community. He felt the fear and despair that the interviewees expressed. The next day, Brother Larry drove to the North Land community and started knocking on doors.

Brother Larry was able to set up several meetings to discuss how to end the violence. After the initial meetings, he was able to organize volunteers and young people from that community. It was from these meetings, the idea to set up a trip to Splash Moraine Water Park came about. After that, he began calling churches to ask for donations and volunteers. Each church was only required to sponsor one child.

Brother Larry continued to set up trips to Splash Moraine and organize more meetings to discuss how to end the violence. From there, the idea for Seeds of Peace began.

If you are interested in volunteering, sending donations, or organizing your own -Seeds of Peace activity, pleace contact Brother Larry at 937-520-8011.

Any and all are welcomed.
